The Toastmaster expects to undertake at least the following duties:

• Greet to the Bride and Bridegroom on arrival at the Reception venue
• Receive the guests and guide them to the reception point
• Organise the receiving-line and announce guests
• Assist with photographs if required
• Call quests’ attention to the seating arrangements and to take their places at.the tables for the start of the Wedding Breakfast.
• Announce the Bride and Bridegroom and escort them to their table
• Announce or say grace, if required
• Make any specific announcements, as requested, e.g. no smoking
• Announce any informal wine toasts, if required
• Announce the cutting of the wedding cake
• Introduce the speakers for the customary toasts and responses
• Be aware of and handle bouquets and presents, as required
• Arrange the retiring of the Bride and Bridegroom from the table
• Advice guests of subsequent arrangements
• Liaise with the band or disco as to their setting up of equipment
• Act as master of Ceremonies to commence the dancing and if a formal ball .follows, to continue as MC, as arranged.

The Toastmaster will perform other duties by arrangement.

If engaged early in the planning of the event, use can be made of the Toastmaster’s experience to assist and advise on the timings, toasts, speeches, presentation and other important items.
